Randy and I got married so long ago that the pictures are fading. But that doesn't really matter - we still remember what counts.
At the time it was common to take a few cutesy pictures. Little did Randy know, but this pose of "waiting for Jackie" was prophetic - he would be doing this for the rest of his life!
Here's the young bride and groom. She's in an extremely modest dress, with long sleeves and a high neckline. Since my family was undergoing some financial challenges due to Dad's recent health problems, I bought a simple white dress from the discount Prom rack and removed the red appliquéd rose on front. Mom made my shoulder length veil with a velvet and seeded pearl headband. Not to be outdone, Randy wore a crushed blue velvet tuxedo. And his hair was quite a bit longer than mine! He was always more stylish me, but the look of love I gave him had nothing to do with the tux.
Randy came from a big family, with several families blended together. At our wedding were his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters, plus my Maid of Honor sister-in-law Linda. I couldn't pick between my sisters for my Maid of Honor, so it seemed simpler to pick Linda. My family was smaller - even with Grandma Mullineaux in the picture, we didn't take up as much space as the Lamberts.
After the ceremony we served a lavish spread of cake, nuts and mints with punch and coffee. Seriously, it was a very small wedding and reception because at that time I was too shy to stand up in front of people. If I had thought about it, I probably would have suggested eloping. But then Randy would not have a reason to wear that crushed velvet tux!
Next it was outside to Randy's beloved Cadillac, decorated inside and out for the trip home. How beloved was that Caddy? The very first thing we did when we got home was wash that car!
