Blueberries are sweetest when you pick them yourself

Wow, another year gone by! That's not all bad, if it means it's blueberry-picking-time again. We went with Gary and Erin to Abshier Farms again and they did not disappoint. In fact, they've improved the place. Now there are banks of beautiful wildflowers near the big grassy area where the picnic tables are located. 

But nobody comes here for wildflowers - it's all about the blueberries! As usual, I pretty much stuck to my favorite. This year the pickin' was a little slimmer - there were plenty of berries but the bushes didn't seem to be so loaded that you feared they would break, like last year. In fact, the owners said this year the pick-your-own time was just about over. No matter, there were plenty of juicy berries to fill our baskets and tummies!

2CELLOS

WOW - we went to a great concert tonight! I discovered 2Cellos online and when I realized they had an upcoming concert in Orlando, I jumped at the chance to see them. Randy and I drove over and parked near the Amway Center, early enough to grab a bite to eat. When we asked for food recommendations from some folks who said they were familiar with the area, they said to walk a couple blocks in the direction we were going. We did, and there was a big fat nothing there. So we turned left and walked a couple more blocks till we found Walhburger's. That's a new one for us, so we turned in and took a seat at the counter. I got a juicy Cheeseburger and Randy got a Cheeseburger salad. And what is that? Why, it's a salad with a Cheeseburger plopped on top. Now that's a different take on "salad"!

But it was good and quick enough to fit the bill. Afterwards we walked back to the Center (and discovered walking another direction took us by a bunch of food stuff - those people didn't know the area at all!). 

The tickets didn't say anything about a first act, but Jon McLaughlin played for about half an hour. He turned out to be a very talented singer/songwriter/pianist, with a dry sense of humor that worked well. When he finished we expected the main act to start, but everyone who'd been here before headed out to the concession stand or restrooms. 

And about 15 minute later - ta da - 2Cellos came out!!!  Wow, I love these guys. They play cellos (obviously) but besides the gorgeous classical airs, they segued into rock and roll. Tonight they covered Viva la Vida, With or Without You, and Micheal Jackson's Human Nature and Smooth Criminal. Then they verged off into rock. I thought they verged a little farther than they needed to, running psychedelic-colored videos on the big screen behind them which I found distracting, but the music was so good: Seven Nation Army and Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, then All Night Long, Satisfaction, and Back in Black. I think they even tucked in Colors of the Wind. They played Avicii's Wake Me Up and played their video for it on the screen behind them. 

Stephan spent a fair part of the second half running around the audience, letting Luka do the most complicated music, but near the end he settled down and played so sweetly. And they closed with the lovely Broken Hallelujah, causing the audience to pay tribute with their cellphone lights. 

I didn't take my camera because I was there to listen. So I got a couple of lousy pics with my phone to keep the memory, then just enjoyed the music.  It was a totally wonderful experience!

Best place to see spring flowers

Disney's Epcot is currently in their "Garden Festival" time slot. That means that almost overnight the place is bursting with color.
And their Butterfly house is full of boxes of caterpillar pupas in the process of producing butterflies. 

The chain-link curtain at the entrace to the enclosure keeps most of the butterflies inside, but not all; a few slip out with the guests. So right outside the enclose are bunches of blooming flowers, to be sure the newly-hatched critters don't go hungry. 

Meanwhile Canada, which is always pretty, looks like something right out of a children's storybook. I'd love to live in that little stone house!
