Castros

Castros is a beautiful seaside town we stopped at on the way to Santiana del Mar. It is on the ocean and has an impressive cathedral, which was not open to the public yet. I think it is called Iglasia de Santa Maria. From the side it is a massive building with no frills,
and from the back is a great view of flying buttresses and gothic windows.
Near the bay is a display of small boats used to cross the Atlantic. When you see how small these are, it is incredible that anyone tried to cross the ocean in one, and even more incredible that they made it.
From here we walked down to the beach, which has lovely white sand.
And I had an opportunity to wear my red leather jacket! I bought it in a shop called Moda En Piel in Las Arenas, just north of Bilbao; Rita and I both liked it, but she let me buy it.
We went to the casino but couldn't get in because their dress code does not include jeans, just like Oakley Court in England, except this time we were all underdressed, not just me! I think if Rita hadn't been there, Randy might have talked his way in, like he did at Oakley Court. But Rita was more familiar with Spanish ways and didn't want to rock the boat. Randy, however, is a great boat-rocker.

We walked around town for awhile, then back to the seashore where we found a good restaurant. The restaurants in Spain don't serve butter with their bread and Rita didn't want to ask for butter - it's such a touristy thing to do - but Randy, happy to rock when it comes to food, talked her into it.
