We were Full-Time RVers who transitioned to Part-Time RVers, traveling across the USA with our pets to experience and share the best sights, sounds, and tastes of this country with our family and new friends.

The State Fair in Albuquerque - Sept 27, 2009
We only had one full day in Albuquerque, so we decided to go to the New Mexico State Fair. When we got in line to buy entrance tickets, the lady in line in front of us brought 4 tickets for her family and got a free ticket. She gave the free ticket to me, so Randy only had to buy one ticket – a nice start to the day!
There was also a man who walked inside, then outside, a large wheel that was counterbalanced so it turned in the air like a Ferris wheel. Another man drove a motorcycle on a high wire with two acrobats hanging onto a counter-balance bar underneath the bike, and they all did handstands while the motorcycle was running on the wire. For the last act, two motorcyclists raced around inside a 14 foot steel cage.
Almost to the top of Pike's Peak - Sept 25, 2009
There are marmots here also, sunning themselves on the rocks.
We reached a spot where the snow had been shoveled off the track, and the snowdrift was as high as the train window, but just on one side.

Other places giant stones are stacked on top of each other. And in the background is the cloud–covered shape of Pike’s Peak. It is really, really beautiful.
Amazing Red Rocks - Sept 22, 2009
As an anticlimax, we drove to Denver for a late lunch. We wanted to have fried chicken at the Rocky Mountain Dinner because someone at Food Network recommended their fried chicken, but it turns out they don’t serve the fried chicken at lunch, so we just got some nachos. We walked around a bit…what is the deal with that huge, 3-story blue bear looking into the office building?

09/06/2009 Getting ready to RV
Went to Ivy Heights Church of God today. It was the weekend of the annual softball tournament so most of the guys were at Gordon Moore Park. After church we went to lunch at Red Lobster with Aaron and Dezina and Jordon, Randy and Pam Dyke, Randy and Kris Reddick and their son Jarrod. Discussed Jared’s upcoming career as a policeman, and my Randy’s upcoming career as a stud-for-hire at the +55 RV Park. After lunch we drove to the park to say goodbye to the rest of the church folks. Got home around 3 and worked on packing the Jeep and doing the rest of the laundry. Randy and I cleaned the black water tank, and I finally found the missing information about the Tulsa reservation. Later we talked with Ed and Ann next door until 8:30.
09/06/2009
Up at 7 to get Manna to City Cat Clinic by 8. She probably has an infection, so we will give her some meds and weigh her daily. Rained all day, so the church’s softball tournament was cancelled. We got cash and went to Everest Cafe for lunch – they have the best Nepalese, Korean and Indian food and it’s in a buffet! We stopped by Sam’s for a few things, then napped. Randy installed the software for the new camera and I laundered the bedding that Manna peed on.
09/04/09 First day of retirement
Woke up at 6:30 on the first day of full retirement! Took the jeep in for a free oil change, and they fixed a tire that had picked up a nail. Stopped by for a cheese pocket at Ed and Ann’s favorite donut shop – it was OK, but not show-stopping. Went to Sams, Walmart and Shop & Save to buy groceries for the trip to Arizona, because we don’t plan on eating out much. Used the vacuum packer to create smaller packages for the freezer. Randy cancelled Direct TV and I changed the address on Discover. I called Blue Cross of Iowa, but the sales staff is in an all-day training session, so I will need to call back on Monday. Manna had an accident on the bed again. First thing tomorrow morning we will get her to the vet. We meet Aaron and Dezina Synder and Randy and Kris Reddick for dinner at Cicero’s. Had hot wings and an appetizer platter, and shared a couple of large Pig Pizzas, and Randy had carrot cake. They wouldn’t allow us to pay for any of it. Made Jake blush while he was waiting on our table by planning Randy’s career as a gigolo. Dezina gave us some chocolates and a wine cork trivet – Aaron made the trivet and Dezina arranged wine corks in it, from wine we had shared. Afterwards we went to Jake’s apartment to drop off some things that Aaron and Dezina are giving him.
09/03/09 Retired! Without insurance
Retired at last! Said goodbye to everyone at Enterprise, did a quick exit interview, and Randy picked me up. Randy had free tickets to the baseball game, so we walked over to the ballpark. Walked home afterwards, stopping by the new Schnucks. Our insurance contact called to say he could not get an insurance policy for us because we were not true residents of South Dakota. It's unfortunate that he called with this information right after I quit work, but Cobra will be OK for awhile while we do look for a policy.
Randy and I worked on replacing the washer hose – the new hose leaked until it was put on extra tight. I balanced the checkbook while Randy made spaghetti for dinner. Then I cleaned the RV and organized the fridge.
