There's nothing like a kid's birthday party!

We spent the weekend at Lance and Marla's place, celebrating Liam's birthday. Friday we goofed off a bit, then on Saturday I tagged along with Marla as she got decorations, cupcakes, and all sorts of miscellaneous party things. The guests started arriving around 2pm: they ended up with 16 children, a couple of babies, and lots of parents. Fortunately Lance and Marla had planned ahead - outside was a huge water slide!

All the kids (and some adults) had a ball on this thing until finally everyone was hungry. So the whole pack moved indoors for pizza, chips and cupcakes. The house was packed! 

Soon the kids sorted themselves out. Most of the boys decided to have an Indian circle and tell stories.

The girls moved, en masse, to the enclosed patio to form a "Tempe Admiration Society". And this sweet old girl was lapping it up!

After most of the guests had gone we stayed up late talking, which made for a late start home on Sunday. That was a great weekend  - so happy to spend it with this wonderful family!
