Barberville Historic Village
We visited the Barberville Historic Village today. It's a nice place to walk around but for some reason we were "into" it. Maybe on another day we would be. I did have a few take-aways from the day. For one thing, the medicines were mostly herbs and spices.
The amputation kit is a frightening reminder of how brutal surgeries could be.
But I liked the tongue depressors, carved from ivory. Someone even got creative with scrimshaw.
They have an old Convict Cage, wihch was part of a Convict Wagon and used to transport prisoners to work sites.
